David Pope is a dedicated Physician Assistant at Virginia Spine Specialists. He is recognized for his expertise in spine surgery assistance and post-operative pain management. He holds a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from King’s College and a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care from Shenandoah University.
David brings a hands-on and empathetic approach to every patient interaction and believes in empowering patients through education, helping them manage the fear and anxiety often associated with spinal conditions. David understands that spine surgery is a major decision and focuses on navigating patients through their journey with personalized care and clear communication. He collaborates closely with Dr. Sharma to design personalized treatment plans, ensuring continuity of care from consultation through recovery. David has been working in neuro-spine surgery and pain management for most of his 17 year career as a physician assistant. He joined Virginia Spine Specialists in 2015 and has been an integral part of the team.

Physician Assistant
Sarah Tartabini is a board-certified Physician Assistant. She earned her masters degree of Physician Assistant Studies from Emory and Henry College, and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech. Sarah has active state licenses to practice in Virginia and Maryland as a Physician Assistant. She earned her National Commission Certification of Physician Assistants in September 2023. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates.
Sarah is passionate about empathetic and collaborative medicine. She values building relationships with patients to improve both their spine and overall health. In her free time outside of the office and operating room, Sarah enjoys spending quality time with loved ones, traveling, reading, crocheting, cooking, and Pilates.
