Home Improvement Project Results in Serious Injury

At our practice, we consult with patients who have suffered back and neck injuries in a variety of ways. Recently, a patient presented after suffering an injury during a home improvement project.

After receiving treatment at an orthopedic practice, which included physical therapy and medication, the patient decided to move on. The results were poor, and the physical therapy actually resulted in additional lower back pain.

Upon discussing the patient’s history, we ordered an MRI and scheduled a follow-up appointment. It was decided that surgery was the best strategy at this point, and the patient agreed.

Not only did the surgery go as planned, but the patient was walking by the same afternoon as the procedure.

Sometimes, patients get caught up in a treatment cycle that doesn’t suit them and/or their injury. When this happens, they’re prone to waste a lot of time, while never getting the relief they need.
