A Herniated Disc Can Cause All Sorts of Problems

It’s easy to assume that a herniated disc will only impact the health of your back and/or neck, but many people who have suffered from this injury will tell you that nothing could be further from the truth.

For example, depending on the location of the injury, a herniated disc has the potential to cause severe leg problems.

We recently consulted with a patient who had been dealing with the impact of a herniated disc at L3/L4 for several years. As a result of daily leg pain and discomfort, the patient found it difficult to keep up with his daily responsibilities.

Complicating matters was the fact that his original orthopedic surgeon misdiagnosed the condition as degenerative disc disease.

After running another batch of tests, including an MRI, it was clear that he was dealing with a herniated disc. We immediately scheduled minimally invasive surgery, which quickly corrected the problem. Within a few weeks of the procedure, he was nearly back to normal.

If you let a herniated disc linger, it has the potential to turn your life upside down. Conversely, if you approach it in the appropriate manner, you can resolve all your issues – including a variety of side effects – as to avoid additional impact on your life.
