A Compression Fracture Doesn’t Have to Slow You Down

MI Spine SurgeryIt goes without saying that a compression fracture in your back or neck will result in pain, discomfort, and the inability to lead your normal life. Fortunately, this doesn’t necessarily have to slow you down over the long run.

Recently, we consulted with a patient who presented with compression fracture L4. Over the past 35 years, he underwent a number of surgeries for debilitating acute episodes of chronic lower back pain and degenerative disc disease.

After discussing his options, we came to the consensus that a minimally invasive spine procedure was the right route. Within four months, the patient’s pain has almost subsided and his reliance on opioids has dwindled.

Even better, he noted that his quality of life continues to improve with each passing day, and it’s our hope that he’ll eventually regain his previous level of health. None of this would have been possible had he continued with other forms of treatment, including more traditional surgical procedures.
