Stay Staggered When Standing to Prevent Lower Back and Leg Pain

Do you spend a good amount of your day standing? Have you come to find that doing so is causing lower back and/or leg pain? Are you wondering if there’s a simple solution to your problem?

One of the best things you can do is take regular breaks throughout the day. Five to ten minutes every hour can go a long way in reducing the likelihood of developing lower back or leg pain.

Along with this, it’s important that you stay staggered when standing. The positioning of your legs has a lot to do with whether or not you experience pain and discomfort. Here’s what it means to stay staggered:

  • Keep one leg in front of the other; rotate legs if you’re standing for a long time
  • Keep a slight bend in your knees to alleviate pressure from building up
  • Don’t lean back in an attempt to take pressure off your legs; this increases the risk of back pain

If you’ve tried everything and have yet to find a solution, consider seeking medical attention. You may come to find that there’s an underlying issue, such as sciatica, that’s causing your pain.
