Spring Season Tasks That Can Injure Your Back or Neck

As cold air gives way to the spring season, you’re sure to find yourself spending more time outdoors. While it’s always nice to rest and relax, a good portion of your time could be spent on physical activity.

Here are three spring season tasks that can result in a back or neck injury:

  • Fall from height: Are you climbing onto your roof to clean your gutters? Using a ladder to remove dead branches from trees in your yard? A fall from height puts your back, neck, and the rest of your body at risk of injury.
  • Slip and fall: Debris has a way of building up around your home during the cold winter months. This can include but is not limited to trash, tree branches, and leaves. All of these things, among others, can cause you to slip and fall.
  • Heavy lifting: From bags of topsoil to lawn equipment, be sure that you don’t attempt to lift more than you can manage on your own.

It’s fun to head outdoors after a long, cold winter but make sure that you put your health above everything else. And of course, if you suffer an injury, stop what you’re doing to assess the situation and decide what to do next.
