Could Desk Yoga Improve Your Health?

Do you sit at a desk the majority of the day? Have you come to find that it’s taking a toll on your back, neck, arms, and/or legs? Are you ready to regain control of your health?

It’s important that you get into the habit of stepping away from your desk every now and again. Not only does this give you the opportunity to stretch, but it also allows you to rest your eyes.

Something else to consider is desk yoga. This is exactly what it sounds like. You perform a variety of stretches all while you’re seated at your desk. Working this into your day an go a long way in keeping you feeling your best.

The longer you sit, the more likely you are to experience tightness and compression in your back. You can protect against this by performing a simple forward bend stretch. Here’s how it works:

•    With your feet on the floor, move toward the end of your chair
•    Make sure your feet are slightly wider than shoulder-width
•    Drop your shoulders and lower your head until your shoulders are comfortably between your knees

This one simple stretch can relieve pressure by moving it away from your lower back.

The more you experiment with desk yoga, the easier it becomes to find a few stretches that enhance your back and neck health.
