Spine Care During the Summer Months: Things to Think About

Upper Back PainNow that we’ve reached the middle of summer, most people are spending quite a bit of time outdoors. From gardening to mowing the lawn, from swimming to hiking, you’re always on the go.

While there is nothing wrong with staying active, as this can benefit your mind and body in many ways, there’s something to think about: the health of your back, neck and spine.

Spine care during the summer months is extremely important, as this is when you’re most likely to be on the move.

Fortunately, by making a few key changes to your daily approach, you can better care for your spine. Here are some things to think about:

·      Avoid heavy lifting and pushing. You may be tempted to lift that bag of dirt or push that heavy lawn mower. Unless you’re 100 percent confident you can do so in a safe manner, it’s best to opt against this.

·      Wear your seatbelt. Like many, you may be taking a road trip this summer. It’s important to wear your seatbelt at all times, as this can go a long way in protecting you in the event of a crash.

·      Learn more about your many options for therapy. Just because you suffer a back injury doesn’t necessarily mean you require surgery. There are many types of therapy to consider. For instance, aquatic therapy can help fix your problem, not to mention the fact that it feels good to stay cool on a hot summer day.

These are just a few of the many things to think about in regards to spine care during the summer months.
